April Fish Report   2.4.2012

March has been a productive period for anglers. Large tailor and salmon have been taken from the beaches

The entrance is large and is proving to be rewarding. Watch out for the incoming tide to catch the salmon and tailor.

Just around the corner  the beach is holding good numbers of fish and being on the beach makes for an exciting tussle.

Bait or lures it does not matter, bust offs just happen, big tailor can wreck tackle by chomping and slicing your line, when they are around 2 to 3 kg. they take some landing.

Bream are moving around and the channel is a good option.

Frozen prawn is still the favoured bait. Small bream can be an issue so I recommend plenty of moves to find the bigger fish.

I have had some rewarding sessions using plastics and vibes, drifting down wind over your target area seems to work best.

I use a slow lift technique with either plastic or vibe. A recent report of big trevally in the channel is great news.

The calm weather has been a feature with low water and weed at the boat ramp.

Care must be taken at the ramp when unloading or retrieving your boat, the condition of the ramp is poor. After unloading and before starting your motor turn your boat to face out, you can then safely motor away through the weed.

The Angling Club has contacted the East Gippsland Shire to try to get help with this problem
